Finding Your Happy Place

“Find your place. Be happy with what you have. Treat everyone well. Live a good life. It isn’t about material things; it’s about love.”
― Vicki Myron y Bret Witter

A happy place doesn’t have to be a place. It can be a feeling, a thought, a state of mind. Sometimes it can be a walk in nature, or time taken to play with our kids. The only requirement is that it nourishes us and fills us up.

But we have a place. A physical location where we are able to relax, regroup, and rewind. A place where we don’t care about time or what’s for supper, we just are. We swim when we want, explore when we want, read when we want, and engage or not engage with everyone else that happens to be there – depending on how we feel at the moment.

We take a nap. Sit in the sun. Slide on the snow. Play games, drink, laugh, and work. And it’s understood that this is our place – that was created for us – and is our refuge and our shelter. Our parents created it, and our family sustains it.

It was an old building, hand-built in the 1960’s. Decorated with dibs and dabs of housewares, sentiments, photos and fabric. It grew with us. The ever-evolving old rocking chairs and furniture being replaced and repurposed. It contained the babies, the splashing kids, and the sulky teenagers who thought it would be more fun to be somewhere else. But it never was. This place welcomed you in – it wrapped the tall timber branches around your shoulders and let you know that you had a right to be here.

It is a honeymoon suite. It is a retreat. It is a place to gather and a place to be alone. It just is. No matter when you make the journey, it is there to welcome you and keep you warm. Unlocking the door and smelling the fresh scent of the water and woods brings you right back to the memories and feelings of love and belonging.

And although the strong, repurposed beams and boards are no longer there, it remains the same. The feelings, the joy, the peace is there. We are all a little older. The next generation of young people and babies are filling it now, cooking the food, doing the work, and creating the memories, but it still remains – ours, mine, yours – for all time.

~ Thank you for keeping the dream alive. It defines us.

The Ides of March

beware-the-ides-of-marchThe Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martiae, Late Latin: Idus Martii)[1] is a day on the Roman calendar that corresponds to March 15th. It was marked by several religious observances and became notorious as the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC. The death of Caesar made the Ides of March a turning point in Roman history, as one of the events that marked the transition from thehistorical period known as the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire.[2]

“The Ides of March is a turning point” – for me too!!I have made great changes in the past two years, and am a different person because of it. I have channeled the power of good nutrition and effective, science-based supplements to drop over 50 lbs of fat, improve my skin and hair, and am ready to do more. Changing some of my bad habits. changing up my business, helping others to achieve the health I am enjoying.

My mom passed away on March 15th 22 years ago – I miss her every day. I wish Limitless would have been around then to help her. She was full of life to the end, but her Healthspan just didn’t match her Lifespan.  Don’t let that happen to you. Don’t give up. Don’t “settle” on living less than the life you deserve.  Choose to Live Limitless!

The last 100 lbs.

Einstein-FrameI think that saying “losing weight” is a bad omen in itself. It insinuates that you need to find it again – and find it I did. Many, many times. After dieting, after being sick, after giving birth, after having surgery, after trying plan after plan after plan that promised permanent weight loss.

And I am not dumb. I understand nutrition. I have three children with Type I Diabetes and have been extensively educated in nutrition and how our body functions. I understand carbohydrates, proteins and fats – and their effects on our bodies. Nutrients, vitamins, insulin, glycemic index, supplements – I know it all. Except how to make it work for me permanently.

And I share this problem with so, so many people! In fact, a large part of the US population. We have things too easy, too convenient, too cheap. We have every single type of food and non-food available to us – at a very reasonable price. We can afford what we want. We can afford to waste. We can afford to throw away. And it’s a shameless tragedy.

My problem is that I never wanted to be denied anything. I have always wanted to do whatever I wanted (ask my mom). I enjoy food. I enjoy cooking. I enjoy baking. I show people I love them with food. But I never have been able to regulate or sacrifice this comfortable love for the sake of my healthy body.

losing weightAt the risk of saying I have found the solution, I believe I have. I listen to my body. I eat good, whole unprocessed foods. I avoid simple carbohydrates – I know they make me not feel well and store fat. And I help my body produce Human Growth Hormone through supplements from Limitless Worldwide, LLC. This helps me “turn back the clock” to a time when my body worked more efficiently – turning fat to lean muscle, plumping up my skin, helping my joints, nails, hair – just a whole body rejuvination!

It’s not a quick fix (believe me, I know that doesn’t work). It’s a lifestyle. I want to live the rest of my life LIVING!! I want to have my Healthspan equal my Lifespan!  But I am doing it… finally. Healthy and strong, and enjoying life!

I AM LIMITLESS!

Healthy is the New Skinny – my Journey

HEALTHY-is-the-new-SKINNY-gI thought I had made peace with my weight at the age of 57. I remember wanting to lose 50 lbs in my 50th year. That didn’t happen. It didn’t happen at 55 either. I have always “wanted” to look better and feel better but I have never been able to do what it takes to get there. Like most folks, I have tried many, many things.

That’s why I surprised myself when I decided to join Body by Vi last May. I had been watching a friend for about a year as she struggled to GAIN weight! Even though I thought that was a silly thing to do, to her, it affected her life in a negative way and she was doing something to remedy it.

She talked about The Challenge and how a person can do anything for 90 days. More importantly to me at the time, I watched her earn a BMW with this company and 4 months later watched her husband earn his! I am an entrepreneur and have worked and been successful at many different jobs and businesses over the years. I usually tire of them – not because I was not successful – but because I am a start-up person and love to get things off and running.

So I sponsored my first Promoter and was off on my first 90-day Challenge! My goal was to lose 30 lbs. I did it!! I followed the plan – and the lbs melted off! As an added bonus, my team grew quickly and I earned a $600/month BMW allowance in my 2nd month!!  Seriously? What kind of company was this?

Terry with car_edited-1Here’s where to find out all you want to know about Visalus and the products.

You can see our founders are young entrepreneurs and they use the latest in social media and technology to market this product. I have a team of about 35 promoters so far – and we are adding new customers daily!  I love this business and am confident that it will provide many wonderful opportunities and much prosperity for me and my team!

Back to my journey. After I lost my first 30 lbs, I was able to maintain that loss (something I hadn’t ever done before) and am now embarking on my next 30 lb goal. Launched for the new year, our Project 10 is a program to award 10 people $1000 each and every week when they lose 10 lbs! Oh, and everyone gets a cool t-shirt. I am IN! As part of the rules, I have to upload a video of myself “before” and “after”.

Now, I am stepping waaaaaay out of my comfort zone here and being brave enough to post my video. We never want to admit we weigh what we weigh (although we usually look like what we weigh). But so I can show my progress, my video includes a step on the scale.

Please don’t laugh at me. I’m being brave here. I want to be healthy. I want to walk with ease and be more comfortable in airline seats. And if I have to run for my plane (as I did last Monday), I don’t want to feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest!

I’m taking baby steps. A pound at a time. An inch at a time. A little more flexibility and a little more comfort.  Please cheer me on! Please support me and tell me it’s a good thing to do!

My company is Body by Vi – a weight-loss and health supplement. You can see more here:  https://wtkempfert.myvi.net/
