All you didn’t want to know about Diabetes Mellitus

diabetes mellitus is a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood and urine.
It’s also a disease that can change your life if you let it. There are two types and they are very different.
Type 1 is a chronic condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
Type 2 is a chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar (glucose).

BIG Difference. So I got to be an expert over an expanse of 30 years. I first watched my mother deal with Type 2 diabetes – and since that was in the 60’s and 70’s, treatments were not very effective and she suffered a lot of bad side effects. My next experience was when my 13 month old daughter started showing signs of something wrong – weight loss, thirst, lethargy. Type 1 is immediate and deadly. If a person is not treated, they die. And yes, that is my 13 MONTH old baby!
We started our education right then, and 7 months later got another lesson when our 7-year old son fainted in the shower one morning, and we discovered, he had Type 1 Diabetes too. Fast forward 2 years, and our oldest – in 6th grade at that time – came home and said “Mom, I’m really thirsty and I’m peeing a lot!”. To say that we were devastated is an understatement, and back to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis we went.
So, about 10 years ago I got involved with a company that promoted “being your best at every age” – with all-natural, plant-based supplements that encompass all of the following – they are our health paks.
- increasing hgh naturally
- weight loss
- workout and fitness
- skin, hair, and nails
- incredible face trio
- joint comfort
- body oxygenation
I am at a high risk for Type 2 Diabetes – the Four “F’s” – Figure – I carry extra weight, Forty – I’m past 40, Family – there’s that family connection, Food – my diet includes foods that are not diabetes-friendly.
So I have a choice to make. Do I want to keep doing the things I have always done and risk this terrible disease (yes – the effects can be terrible – including limb loss, blindness, renal failure to just name a few), or do I want to bit the bullet and change my habits so I do not develop Type 2 Diabetes – or other autoimmune diseases.
You think it would be an easy decision – but most of us are so comfortable with our habits, and keep our head in the sand thinking “it won’t happen to me”!

What matters? Duh – life. My husband and children and spending time with them. Being around to enjoy my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leaving a legacy. Teaching others how to live well. It matters. Life matters.
Join me. Let’s do this together. Leave me a comment and say “I’m in” – I choose life. I choose health. And I will share my story with you – and my plan.
