I remember lying on the snow banks in spring (I grew up in the far north) and holding tin foil under my chin to take advantage of every chilly ray of sun, not wearing sunscreen, indulging in too much “Happy Hour” and extreme dieting, which led to weight fluctuations that kept getting harder and harder to tame.

But, looking at myself in the mirror today — age-related fine lines, wrinkles and gray hairs aside – I also see the results of good habits I picked up early in life. Fortunately they’re simple things that anyone can do to reach midlife in half decent shape. If you’re just out of school, ready to retire, or somewhere in between, don’t let anyone tell you it’s too early or late to start taking care of yourself. Start now – and enjoy the benefits of time you spend on YOU.
