Starfish Tribe – thankful for all we got

starfishtribeToday I am grateful for all that I have in this life – and I have so much!

I want to introduce to my friend Endurance Bright Edeki – he is a young man that lives in Africa and I have been captivated by his story, and feel that there was a reason that our paths have crossed.

You may know that my son Nic survived a devastating illness starting in 2009. He is currently 4.5 years cancer-free and I am so very, very grateful for all the wonderful doctors, caregivers, friends and family that did so much to help us help him in his recovery!

My friend Karen Eckstrom – who herself has seen some amazing miracles during her daughter Heather’s journey through TWO liver transplants – and I have established a fund called the STARFISH TRIBE. The name here is so meaningful to us!

You may have heard the story of the starfish – it is sometimes told as follows:

“One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a figure in the distance. As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.  Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”  The youth replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”  “Son,” the man said, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t possibly make a difference!”  After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, “I made a difference for that one.”  (Adapted from The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley)

So that brings us to ENDI – he is our starfish – please take a look at the GO FUND ME account we have set up for him –

Please listen to your heart and see if there is something there that encourages you to help make a difference to this one. He is just one man – in a far away country – but is honestly looking for a better life for himself and his family. I want to help him. I hope you want to as well – thank you for whatever you can do to help!
